First Friday in March 2012

Practicing Face Painting with Ellen Torola

The evening of March 2nd in Calumet is going to be special in so many ways because it is the start of the Copperdog 150 dog sled race.  Hundreds of dogs and their people line up hoping to complete a circuit that goes all the way up to Copper Harbor, and it starts on Fifth St. in Calumet with fireworks and festivities. The Copper Country Associated Artists (CCAA) Gallery is sharing in the spirit of volunteerism and love of animals that the Copperdog 150 race is known for by holding a fund raiser for the Copper Country Humane Society.  We are going to be hosting a face painting event at the Gallery for that First Friday, hoping to gather donations which will help the local shelter.  Ellen Torola, a well known local artist will be working ahead of time with two local girl scout troops, helping them to prepare for this event by creating designs that reflect this awesome occasion.   On the evening of the Copperdog 150,  CCAA artist members will be on hand to assist these young artists in painting designs on the faces of those who would like this when they visit the gallery.  Refreshments will be provided; we hope you will come!
We will also be open on the Saturday after the sled dog race from 10AM until 2PM.
