A quote from Carl Reiner: “A lot of people like snow. I find it to be an unnecessary freezing of water.”
Weather has been a constant source of comment since the early spring.
In some places the snow and ice remained far into June. Bugs and rain
followed. The temperatures were cool.
We did indeed have some glorious weather. The Eagle Harbor Art Fair in
August presented two days of sun, mild temperatures and light breezes.
Artists tents filled the church yard and surrounding area. Visitors filled the
grounds and made purchases from the vendors. Pottery, jewelry, painting,
photography, wood working were all present. CCAA members were
represented in the undercroft of the church. Jeanne Deible again brought us a brilliant floral display. Miriam Pickens was the Featured Artist. Miriam is a fine potter and photographer who loves butterflies and often incorporates them
in her work.
The Gallery was open Tuesday thru Saturday during the summer. Traffic was good and sales were plentiful. With the colder weather coming the Gallery hours will be Friday and Saturday 11-4.
First Fridays have been spectacular and will continue through the winter.
October will be a Fall Collage. Watch for additional special events at the Gallery. These will be announced on Facebook.
Reluctantly October brings my return to Minnesota. (Yes, I go south for the
winter.) Back to the crowded freeways and tall buildings. I have been lucky
to have spent the time here and truly hate to leave.
Members are encouraged to share their talents by congregating in the Gallery
on Thursdays. This is an opportunity to explain to each other techniques and materials used in their Art. And, of course, there is lunch.
