And the correlative question: how will people relate to it?\u00a0 As has been stated many times in this forum, I exercise my muse in attempt to communicate.\u00a0 I paint because I have to.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cthe purpose of man\u2019s first speech was an address<\/p>\n<p>to the un-knowable\u2026\u2026his hand traced the stick<\/p>\n<p>through the mud to make a line before he learned<\/p>\n<p>how to throw the stick as a javelin.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Barnett Newman<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0 Why I paint what I paint is a different question, one related closely to the process of how I go about creating artwork.\u00a0 Content is everything.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t do this to create decorations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn life\u2019s vast ocean<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Diversely we sail<\/p>\n<p>Reason\u2019s the boat<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But passion&#8217;s the gale\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 ~Alexander Pope<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 circa 1720<\/p>\n<p>The process for objective work is somewhat different than that for abstracts.\u00a0 Most often when discovering something in nature, I&#8217;ll make a mental image of it.\u00a0 This vision along with digital photographs are what i work with in the studio.\u00a0 From this I start with thumbnail drawings until I have a satisfactory composition with the values established.\u00a0\u00a0 Then I do a study in various media, most often in watercolor.\u00a0 Each step along the way is combined with lots of looking and meditation.\u00a0 For important works this can take weeks.\u00a0 If I&#8217;m still inspired, I move on to the final version.\u00a0 More changes take place.\u00a0 Things often go wrong, leading to radical changes.\u00a0 During this process of creatrion and destruction my intuition must be closely monitored.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t always pay to cling to the original mental image or you&#8217;ll never see what&#8217;s worth saving.\u00a0 I learned this lesson long ago.<\/p>\n<p>For abstract paintings the process is different..
