Classes at the CCAA Gallery

117 5th Street

Historic Downtown Calumet, MI

Have you always wanted to learn how to create beautiful stained glass?! Well, longtime CCAA member and gallery artist Christine Porter is here with a very special opportunity for you!

Christine is offering three different courses that will delight and excite any stained glass enthusiast!

These classes are open to all adults. You do not need to be a member of the Copper Country Associated Artists to attend! However, these stained glass workshops are for adult art enthusiasts only. Stained glass work involves sharp implements, hot tools and grinders, and is not suitable for students under the age of 18.

Class options:
Two of her offerings are all-inclusive two session introductory classes. One is glass mosaics, in which you can make an attractive mirror or plaque, and the other is learning the Tiffany method, using copper foil and soldering, in which you’ll create an attractive piece to hang in your window. The details for these are in the class fliers below.

Or for the more experienced glass artist:
Are you interested in intermediate glass working opportunities? Christine will lead you in the art of the Tiffany method or traditional leaded method for a window panel (approx. 25-35 pieces), a mosaic tray or small tabletop, or lead wrapping or foil method for small items. This is prospectively a 6 session class so we can really have some “glassy” fun. Depending upon the works that participants wish to do class size will be minimum of 2, to a maximum of 4 or 6 persons, allowing for space use, tool sharing during class time, and everyone getting the guidance needed. Intermediate class participants will need to purchase stained glass and major materials, like solder, lead, framing metals, or base for mosaic work, either from local stained glass/other suppliers, online, or from stock (at cost) that Christine has. Routine supplies and sundry materials are included in class fee. If making small pieces (like suncatchers or candle holders) multiple items may be completed during this timeframe.

Call or text Christine to discuss the artwork that you’d like to create and your availability so that classes can get planned and coordinated for everyone who’s interested. The sessions are $35 each with a minimum of 3 sessions (smaller items, $105), or 6 sessions ($210) paid for in advance.

Contact Christine by leaving a text or voice message at (906) 281-8601, or email clpglassart@gmail.com to start discussing your creative stained glass experience.”

Have fun and create beautiful stained glass art with Christine today!
