John Dodge

John was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. After serving in the Air Force, John attended Michigan Tech. It was while his son was attending Tech that he re-discovered the beauty of the Keweenaw. John began taking travel photos in the early 80’s while traveling abroad; when he retired to Eagle River in 2010 he began studying and practicing photography in earnest.

While John enjoys portrait and street photography, his main focus is landscape and wildlife photography. He is guided by the words of Ansel Adams when he said “There are always two people in every picture: the photographer and the viewer” and “Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop”.
